Stratford University's Women's Soccer Team traveled to Wilmington, North Carolina this weekend to participate in the Port City Classic. On Saturday the Lady Cardinals took on the #18 team in the Country, Cape Fear Community College. This was a historic moment as it was the first time a Stratford University Athletic Team had ever taken the field. Unfortunately, Cape Fear's experience was too much for the young Stratford team and they suffered their first defeat. On Sunday, the Lady Cardinals looked to bounce back against Howard Community College. Stratford took an early lead but was unable to keep it and suffered defeat to the Lady Dragons. While we did not come away with a victory this weekend, the Lady Cardinals gained valuable experience and proved that they can compete with some of the top teams in the country. The team was led by Freshman Diadra Hill and Sidney Treadway, who each scored a goal, and Freshman Makayla Price who had 39 saves in goal.
