Over the weekend the Stratford University Women's Soccer Team made history by hosting its very first home athletic event. The Lady Cardinals defeated Wake Tech Community College (Raleigh, NC) 2-1 to secure the first athletic victory in the history of the University. In honor of the first ever home game, the Newport News Campus hosted a pre-game tailgate with Chef McGee and Erica Ryan cooking hamburgers and hotdogs for students and fans. Prior to the game Athletic Director, Chris Sawyer and Associate Athletic Director, Phoenix Evans presented the referees with the game ball. The Lady Cardinals were led in scoring by Freshman Sidney Treadway and Freshman Janay Pyron, who each scored a goal. Goalkeeper Makayla Price finished with 13 saves and only allowed one goal. She now leads the Nation in saves with 69 and is 14th in the Nation in save % at 80%.
