Stratford Offense Explodes for 10 Runs in Sixth

The Stratford University Cardinals opened the first game of their conference series versus Christendom College with a bang. Jorge Hernandez launched a 1-0 pitch for a 2-run home run in the first inning. The Cardinals picked up 2 more runs in the 3rd inning. John Mastrogianakis scored from third base on an error by the Christendom shortstop and Stratford picked up another run in the inning on a single to center off the bat of Cody Burnham.

After the Crusaders answered with 3 runs of their own in the 3rd inning, the score remained 4-3 Cardinals until the away offense exploded for 10 runs in the 6th inning. Justin Smith, Daniel Nevins, Jordan Carter, Austin Elledge, Jorge Hernandez, and Cody Burnham all plated at least one RBI during the big inning. Justin Smith had a 3-RBI triple, his first of the year, and Jordan Carter had a 2-RBI double in the big inning.

Alec Frazier (6-2) threw his third complete game of the year to earn his USCAA leading sixth win. His line for the night: 6IP, 6H, BB, 7K, 3R, 3ER.

Jorge Hernandez led the offensive push for the Cardinals, going 2 for 4, 2R, 2B, HR, BB, 3 RBI. Justin Smith was 1-3, R, 3B, BB, 3 RBI, Jordan Carter 1-4, 3R, 2B, BB, 4 RBI, and Cody Burnham was 1-4, R, BB, 2 RBI.
