Offense Stays Hot in Sweep of Southern Maryland

The Stratford University Baseball team put on an impressive display at the plate on Saturday afternoon enroute to a sweep of the College of Southern Maryland, winning the opener 11-8 and taking the nightcap 9-1.  The Cardinals improve to 12-7 on the year and will return to action on Sunday afternoon for a 2:00 pm doubleheader against Patrick Henry.

Game 1

Alex Frazier improved to 4-1 on the year, as he threw four inning and collecting four strikeouts.  Offensively, the Cardinals collected twelve hits in the opener as Andrew Brooks led the way with a perfect 4-4 at the plate, including a homerun, double, scoring two runs while also driving in three.  Jordan Carter, Jacob Brewer and Jacob Miller each collected two hits, with Carter scoring twice and driving in two runs and a homerun, while Miller drove in three runs while adding two doubles.  The Cardinals were propelled by a six run second inning and a three run sixth inning during the win.

Game 2

Tyler Sunstrum improved to 2-1 on the year as he threw a complete game, allowing five hits and striking out ten hitters.  Carter led the way at the plate with a perfect 3-3 game, scoring three runs and adding a double and a triple.  Brooks, Brewer, Miller, Mark Copenhaver and Luis Cintron each added two hits, with Brooks adding another homerun and two RBI, and Miller and Cintron each adding a double.  The Cardinals added fifteen hits in the nightcap.
