The fourth ranked Stratford University men's basketball team pushed through a rough stretch after halftime, to move to 6-0 on the season with an 82-77 victory, over NCAA Division 2 Cheyney University on Saturday afternoon at the Julius Conn Rec Center.  The Cardinals had five players score in double digits, as they were led by DeAndre Demiel with 17 points and 7 assists, while Kendall Shepherd added 16, Jamonte Ricks had 12 points, and Ron Davis and Chris Reid both pitched in with 11 points.   Davis turned in another double-double with 11 rebounds to go with his 11 points.

Stratford ran out to a 43-28 lead at the half, but the Wolves responded after the break with an 18-0 run, and held the Cardinals scoreless for the first six minutes of the second half, while taking a three point lead.  Cheyney would push the lead to five points during the second half, but Stratford tightened up the defensive effort and forced multiple turnovers that lead to fast break points on the offensive end.

Stratford returns to action on Sunday afternoon with a 2:00 pm tip against seventh ranked and crosstown rival The Apprentice School.  The game follows the first home game for the VIT team, who tip off at 12:00 pm against Bryant & Stratton College.
