Sly Walk Off Helps Cardinals Split

The Stratford University Softball team finally beat the weather, as they traveled over to Paul D. Camp for two games, in walking off in a 6-4 victory over Patrick Henry Community College in the opener, but falling 7-2 in the nightcap to Paul D. Camp.

Game 1

Sadie Sly played the hero for the Cardinals in the opener, as she provided a dramatic walk off three run home run with two outs in the bottom of the 7th inning to give Stratford the 6-4 victory.  Karla Martinez added two hits in the game while Veronica Acevedo picked up the win in the circle, while also helping her cause with a double and two runs driven in.

Game 2

In the second game of the day, the Cardinals had runners in scoring position, but could not push across more than two runs as they fell 7-2 to Paul D. Camp.  Sly once again had a powerful game at the plate as she notched two hits, both doubles, and drove in a run.  Martinez added the other run batted in, as she Hayley Winfree and Shy Cansler each added a double.

Katie Farrow took the loss in the circle as she allowed only 2 earned runs.

Stratford is now 10-9 on the season and returns to action on Thursday as they travel to Penn St. DuBois.
