Softball Continues Offensive Onslaught

The Stratford University Cardinals Softball team continued their offensive onslaught and in increased their winning streak to five games in routing Penn State Scranton, winning 9-0 in the game one and taking game two 16-3.  Stratford improves to 6-2 on the year.

Game 1

Veronica Acevedo improved to 3-1 in the circle, as she throw a five inning complete game shutout, allowing only two hits and striking out four hitters.  The Cardinals scored four runs in the first inning and four more in the fourth inning to pick up the shutout.  At the plate, Karla Martinez collected two hits, including a double and a triple while driving in two runs.  Sadie Sly belted a triple and drove in two runs, while Katie Farrow also knocked in two runs while aiding in the victory.

Game 2

The Cardinals collected twelve hits, while also taking advantage of six PSU Scranton errors, five walks and three hits batsmen in the game two victory.  Isabella Garibaldi collected three hits and drive in two runs, while Hayley Winfree, Sly, and Farrow each added two hits apiece.  Julia Conner, Sly, Martinez and Shy Cansler each drove in two runs in the short game victory.  

Stratford scored five runs in the first inning and ten runs in the third inning.
