The Stratford University Softball team finally beat the weather, as they traveled over to Paul D. Camp for two games, in walking off in a 6-4 victory over Patrick Henry Community College in the opener, but falling 7-2 in the nightcap to Paul D. Camp.
Sadie Sly played the hero for the Cardinals in the opener, as she provided a dramatic walk off three run home run with two outs in the bottom of the 7th inning to give Stratford the 6-4 victory. Karla Martinez added two hits in the game while Veronica Acevedo picked up the win in the circle, while also helping her cause with a double and two runs driven in.
In the second game of the day, the Cardinals had runners in scoring position, but could not push across more than two runs as they fell 7-2 to Paul D. Camp. Sly once again had a powerful game at the plate as she notched two hits, both doubles, and drove in a run. Martinez added the other run batted in, as she Hayley Winfree and Shy Cansler each added a double.
Katie Farrow took the loss in the circle as she allowed only 2 earned runs.
Stratford is now 10-9 on the season and returns to action on Thursday as they travel to Penn St. DuBois.
